PD Self-Help Resources for Issues Affecting Your Parkinson's (E-newsletters, web sites and webinars

GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED BETWEEN DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS

Many of us have questions about our PD for which answers and suggestions are available on any number of helpful, comprehensive, highly reputable websites with many sections devoted to patient care. Our neurologists (and their stand-in's) are often not easy to reach, and the truth is that answers are available to many of your concerns with a click of your mouse.
On most sites, you'll have the opportunity to either read your information on-line, download and save it on your computer, print it out, or order brochures about your concerns from
National Parkinson Foundation, Parkinsons Disease Foundation, Northwest Parkinsons Foundation, World Parkinson Coalition (worldpd.org) Michaeljfoxfoundation, and PDPipeline (a forum run by PD advocates) among others. You can also watch on your computers, archived versions of informative Web Forums dedicated to your particular concern online.

These websites provide information about non-motor daily PD problems which affect us as much as motor changes.
Among them:
Constipation, Nausea, Incontinence, Insomnia, Dry Mouth, Swallowing Difficulties, Balance problems,
Nutrition, Meals and Medication Timing, Avoidance of Protein before and dosage of Sinemet, Hallucinations,
Cognitive Changes which include short-term memory loss, disorganization, difficulty transitioning between activities, compulsive behaviors like late-night, on-line computer games or gambling, and Depression and Anxiety.

Hopefully, some of your questions will be addressed by these resources. Check sections of those websites addressed to 'Patient Care' or 'Living With Parkinsons'
